IDB launches 11 Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), registering 200,000 course participants in one year.

IDB signed an agreement with Harvard and MIT to become a member of edX, the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) platform, with the aim of offering MOOCs targeted at public officials from Latin America and the Caribbean. The first course is launched in October 2014.

INDES and the IDB’s Integration and Trade Department launched the Integration and Trade Capacity Building Program, offering online courses in 25 thematic areas targeted at public and private managers responsible for trade facilitation and regional integration agencies.

In alliance with more than 10 departments of the Bank, INDES created the Project Management for Results Program (pm4R), encompassing several courses aimed at professionalizing modern project manage-ment practices in development projects.

The rapid expansion of the Subnational Governments Capacity Building Program allows INDES to expand its cadre of trainers and course coordinators. The diverse professional background enriches the Program, and the Training of Trainers activities are mainstreamed into the different training programs.
